Have you ever been to see a massage therapist? If yes, you already know how much of a difference it can make in one’s well-being and/or healing journey and how amazing you feel after each appointment.
We’re happy to welcome a new massage therapist to the MaxFit team!
How it started…
Rachel was born and raised in beautiful Port Moody and has always pictured living and working in the area. ‘I always dreamed of becoming a massage therapist, and I really wanted to find a way to work here,’ says Rachel. After putting a lot of hard work and dedication into it, Rachel graduated from West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 2015 and has since been working to help improve the health and well-being of many.
‘I played soccer and rugby while in school,’ says Rachel, which was of course lots of fun, but she also experienced a few injuries which led her to seek treatment. It’d be accurate to say that a practitioner can learn a lot from being a patient at least once, which can help them understand the process from both sides. ‘I got to see what it’s like to be a patient here at MaxFit’, she says, which she was happy with and so, she decided to start an internship as part of her high school work experience. But it went beyond that. ‘Aside from the help I received with my treatment, I was inspired to learn about how much Maxfit does for the community,’ she says.
And all the way to today…
Given her love for living, working and contributing to the health of her Port Moody community, it was only a matter of time until Rachel decided to join the team as a practitioner. And we’re happy that she did!
‘My goal is to always adapt my style of massage therapy to best match the needs of my patients, and to make them feel comfortable as we progress with the treatment,’ she says. When she’s not busy seeing patients, Rachel is out and about alongside her family, enjoying her favourite activities: rock climbing, camping, fishing, and traveling.
Favourite quote: ‘You will always feel fear, but overtime you will realize the only way to truly manage your fear is to broaden your comfort zone’ (Alex Honnold, rock climber)
Welcome to the team, Rachel!
