We’re happy to welcome our new practitioner!
Alp Ertung is Certified Fascial Manipulation®Specialist, and Neuromuscular Therapist, H.Dip., and if you’ve been with us for a while, you know how important fascia is to movement and a generally active lifestyle. But we’re getting ahead here.
Everyone has a story about how they’ve come to do what they do, Alp included. “I’ve always found human anatomy and physiology interesting, and most importantly, I have always wanted to help people who have pain. However, it took me seven years to realize how unhappy and stressed I was while stuck on a completely different career path.” Luckily for him (and many pain-affected people), Alp had a big epiphany that set him on the path he is still pursuing today.
Journey to a new home
Originally from Istanbul, Türkiye, Alp settled in Vancouver not too long ago, together with his wife and their little dog, and it didn’t take long for them to feel at home. “We fell in love with the city soon after moving here, so if home is where the heart is, then this is home.”
Moving here comes with a ‘can’t wait to get to do all that’ kind of wish list for Alp. “I would love to start hiking, kayaking and skiing since we are in a wonderful city that offers all kinds of outdoor activities,” he says. While work is his true passion, which is why he loves the quote, ‘Find a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life,’ Alp is also a professional musician, having studied jazz and classical music.
Choosing MaxFit – Goals and dreams
Choosing to work at MaxFit happened naturally. “I met Dr. Kelsick in 2014 at the International Fascia Research Summer School in Ulm University in Germany, and I also knew him from his lectures and workshops that he did with my teachers.” They picked up where they left it almost a decade ago, and here we are, welcoming Alp’s expertise to MaxFit Institute.
“As a Certified Fascial Manipulation® Specialist I would love to directly help people who suffer from chronic and subacute myofascial pain and dysfunction,” says Alp. But beyond that, as a Certified Fascial Manipulation® Teacher, he would love to reach out and provide education for healthcare practitioners who are interested in this scientific and effective method which can help people improve their health and reduce pain (while also being time- and cost-efficient).
Wise words to live by
Alp’s favourite quote, ‘Treatments themselves do not ‘cure’ the condition, they simply restore the body’s self healing ability’ comes from one of his most revered teachers, the late Leon Chaitow. “He helped me the most with developing my professional path and he used to mention this quote frequently.”
“Every human being is unique, and every human body has the ability to heal itself, due to an amazing physiological design,” says Alp. Healthcare practitioners, he says, can help restore this self healing ability. “This quote praises the amazing design of the human body, which is the ultimate target of the treatments we administer, leaving no space for personal ego.”
Alp’s life philosophy can be summed up like this: “The learning process never ends.” Suitably so!
