One of the most exciting things about our clinic is that we get to meet accomplished professionals that integrate seamlessly into our team. Moreover, they add value to the work we do with our clients.
In the case of our newest team member, Daehan Kim, that is accurately reflected through one of his favourite quotes, ‘Discover real peace and harmony within yourself, and naturally this will overflow to benefit others.’ (S.N. Goenka)
“This quote reflects a life philosophy that became central for me during a major turning point in my life and led me to explore what it means to be content with myself in a competitive and fast‑paced world,” he says.
How the journey begins
Daehan Kim is a manual osteopathic practitioner and clinical kinesiologist. His professional journey begins with …well, being curious. “I’ve always been fascinated by human movement, which led me to study kinesiology. Over time, that curiosity grew into a desire to help people restore and enhance their quality of life through movement.”
Daehan moved to Vancouver to pursue a graduate degree, and before long (and not surprisingly), he fell in love with the city and its offerings. “I quickly grew to love the culture, diversity, and natural environment here,” he says. “Vancouver felt like a place where I could continue growing both personally and professionally.”
Life when the day work is done
When not working, Daehan loves spending time with family and friends, and making time to grow, both personally and professionally. “I enjoy exploring the inner workings of the mind and engaging in reflective practices that help me understand myself and others more deeply.” But life is also about having space to unwind, which is why Daehan appreciates the moments when he can be silly and not take himself too seriously.
He complements all this with a regular practice of martial arts. “It’s a meaningful part of my routine that keeps me connected to movement, discipline, and continuous growth — values that naturally carry into my clinical work.”
Why choose MaxFit
You may think it’s only natural, at this point, that Daehan would have felt, may we say, ‘at home’ with joining MaxFit.
“I was drawn to Maxfit because its clinical philosophy aligns closely with my own, especially the view that pain and discomfort are expressions of imbalance rather than isolated problems. In my practice, I take a detective‑like approach to understanding how different bodily systems, along with a person’s emotional and physical well‑being, contribute to their state of balance. This whole‑person perspective naturally calls for genuine interdisciplinary collaboration.”
Collaboration is at the basis of integration, the main core belief at MaxFit. We could not be happier to know that Daehan approaches care with a similar mindset.
“Throughout my career, I’ve dedicated myself to building collaborative relationships with primary care physicians who are open to integrating movement‑based and manual therapy perspectives, says Daehan. “I’ve seen firsthand how this kind of partnership can create clearer pathways and better outcomes for patients. I believe this collaborative model is essential for addressing some of the long‑standing challenges within the Canadian healthcare system, and I’m encouraged that Maxfit is committed to fostering this kind of integrative environment.”
Growth as a long game
What we believe in shapes our behaviour and help us grow as we reach farther. Daehan’s second favourite quote speaks to that, ‘The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.’ (Carl Rogers)
“I believe that every person is inherently worthy simply by existing, and that embracing this truth creates inner peace, resilience, and the capacity to adapt. This philosophy has shaped the way I live and the way I practice. It reminds me that meaningful change begins with acceptance, rather than pressure, and this continues to guide my growth as person and as a practitioner.”
Welcome to MaxFit, Daehan Kim, we’re excited to have you onboard!
