Who is Debra?
Debra O’Neill is a Certified Holistic Health Practitioner who brings her expertise to MaxFit at a time when it is most needed.
She is also Himalayan yoga and meditation teacher, which brought her closer to a 5000-year-old orally-passed foundational philosophy.
Debra graduated from Langara College, Certified in Advanced Integrative Energy Healing with electives in Somatic Trauma and Addiction. Through her company, BlissBE.ME Debra offers healing treatments where she integrates energy healing with meditation and applied kinesiology. That helps identify limiting beliefs which creates an effective, progressive healing experience.
Why MaxFit?
When invited to join Maxfit, she accepted right away, because she shares the belief that having a well-rounded team of practitioners can provide clients with the best care. Her two children, now adults, are both formerly semi-professional athletes. ‘Both my children have benefited from the MaxFit care and that has been an experience which allowed me to learn about the extensive care being offered here, which matches my own healing philosophy,’ she says.
‘I integrate a unique core of modalities that can contribute to finding the best way to guide clients towards better health, physically, emotionally, mentally and relationally,’ Debra says. Because, she adds, ‘the afflictions and limitations that our bodies experience are often closely related to traumatic experiencing and/or sub-conscious limitations, or what we refer to as limiting beliefs’.
Background
Debra grew up in Winnipeg as part of a spiritual, open-minded family. ‘I started practising yoga with my mom when I was 15 and she also introduced me to other holistic practices which I found fascinating at the time and came to appreciate much more as I became an adult working through my own healing journey. In fact, it led me on my path to being a holistic health practitioner,’ she says.
During her early 20s Debra moved from Winnipeg to make Vancouver her home to be closer to support her dad. Not long after she was a passenger in a serious car accident. Subsequent treatments and prescriptions did not help her and that added to a stressful career as a bank manager at that time. All of this challenged Debra to seek deeper to improve her condition but also understand health from a more holistic perspective.
She learnt that significantly reducing stress, releasing trauma and limiting beliefs and re-patterning the body’s biofield offers symptom relief from afflictions of suffering in all areas. Integrated holistic health with allopathic care is what Debra believes in strongly.
That’s likely why she identifies her work in energetic and sub- consciousness healing as her passion, which keeps her advancing her training and adding new modalities to her expertise, such as Sound Healing therapy and Aroma Accu-Point therapy. Both are gentle forms of therapy that offer a gateway to the body’s meridian system and the potency of sound or essential oils combined with acupressure for safe and effective treatment.
Debra’s favourite quote is ‘Where your thought goes, energy flows’. Our mind can project positive or negative thoughts, she explains, and we need as much of the positive as possible – it improves our health and the health of the world. Simply put, be kind and you are contributing to making yourself and the world around you a whole lot better!
