February is Black History Month and we’re celebrating history in the making!
CMCC Alumnus Dr. Wilbour Kelsick is a prominent chiropractic sports specialist celebrating 40 years in practice. A trailblazer, he is founder of MaxFit Movement Institute, the first private integrative clinic in Canada. MaxFit is a community hub that approaches patients from a team perspective and offers care that extends beyond the treatment room, including educational and active workshops that support the whole person.
Through his work he is proud to have supported some of the world’s greatest athletes and was among the first of many chiropractors to be welcomed to the Canadian CORE Medical Team at the Olympics, playing an important role in helping to pave the way. Since those first Games in 1998 (Nagano), he has treated athletes at an additional 10 Olympic Games and many more major games. He also served with the NHL, NBA and consulted with European, Caribbean, USA and African athletes.
In addition to running MaxFit, Dr. Kelsick presents internationally on sports and rehabilitation. He is passionate about the science behind functional anatomy, biotensegrity and its relation to human performance. Presenting abroad, he works with an international group of multidisciplinary practitioners, all of whom come together to advance the understanding of functional anatomy.
He has contributed to several books, the most recently published being Myofascial Magic by colleague Joanne Avison.
