We’re excited and cannot hide it. A new practitioner has joined our team!

Melanie Soer is a physiotherapist with a special interest (and lots of experience!) in helping people who live with arthritis and mixed connective tissue disorders. This skill set, which she has developed over many years of working at Mary Pack Arthritis Centre in Vancouver, is as valuable as can be given the high incidence of arthritis among adults of all ages.

A Lower Mainland native, Melanie decided to study science, but it wasn’t until she studied kinesiology that she was introduced to physiotherapy. She found it fascinating and enjoyed the problem-solving aspect of finding the cause of the pain and then the most suitable way to help patients recover, she explains.

Why MaxFit? Melanie is unequivocal, ‘I love the integrative team approach to figuring out the best way to help clients, and I love that each practitioner is encouraged to pursue their own interest in their respective area of practice,’ says Melanie. Simply put, you are allowed to bring your expertise which is instrumental in putting together the best recovery plan for each client.

And then there is that extra: ‘I was very impressed to learn about MaxFit organizing community events centered around being physically active, be it kayaking, snowshoeing, or any other activities that engage people to get out and move, regardless of their fitness level,’ says Melanie.

Physical activity has been an integral part of Melanie’s life since childhood. ‘Since I was a kid, swimming has always been a big part of my life,’ she says. So much so that she worked as an instructor and lifeguard during her university years. She also loves hiking, which she happily combines with camping whenever possible.

When not working, or hiking, or swimming, Melanie finds herself in the garden and if not there, she tries to make time for crafting and learning new things such as playing music and languages whenever possible. It’s eclectic for sure, she laughs, but she’s happiest when engaged in learning, which anyone can agree would come in handy anytime, but particularly during challenging pandemic times.

Welcome to MaxFit, Melanie, we’re excited to have you join our team!

What our clients are saying
  • "‘I've been a patient of Dr. Kelsick for the past 10 years, and Dr. Rite for the past 4, and the two are truly amazing at what they do! Although their titles are Chiropractors, they both have such a wide base of knowledge and understanding of the body, that I often feel as if our sessions are a combination of chiropractic, physiotherapy, massage therapy, and occasionally even nutrition. As such, when I see them, I know I am being taken care off. As an athlete, and simply an injury prone individual, they have both truly made a difference in how my body functions. I definitely recommend =).’ "
    Sabrina Nettey
  • "‘Dr. Kelsick and his team are truly amazing. They’ve been putting me back together and keeping me moving for more than 15 years and now take care of my whole extended family, from my 86-year-old mom to my teenage daughters. Dr. Kelsick goes the extra mile to understand exactly what is going on with your body in order to provide the very best solutions. No problem is too complex or challenging. Think Dr. House with a far better bedside manner!’ "
    Peggi Peacock
  • "‘As an athlete my goal is to have a fit and healthy body, and Maxfit Movement Institute helps me maintain this goal. The team of Doctors are truly gifted, and their positive outlook on life is amazing. Thank you for making a difference in my life.’"
    L Murphy
  • "‘The difference with the staff at MaxFit, especially Randy and Wilbour: they take the time to assess and determine the source of your aches or pains. Not only do they treat whatever it is, they explain how to avoid it happening again. I have tried many physio-therapists but none of them come close to MaxFit. Highly recommended. ‘"
