Mahya Dolati’s love for athletics goes deep and far back in time too. ‘I was born in an athletic family. My father and sister used to be professional soccer players and my mother is a professional fitness trainer for over 25 years. So, I found my interest in sports from the beginning,’ Mahya says.
Getting started
After getting a taste of physical education in high school, she decided to pursue a career as a physiotherapist. Getting a master’s degree in Exercise Physiology was intense but a lot of fun too, Mahya says. ‘I enjoy learning more about human body kinematics and function,’ she adds. ‘I love being able to translate it all into practical knowledge that helps MaxFit patients overcome their physical injuries and pain.’
You know you love your chosen profession when hobbies revolve around deepening the knowledge that you get to apply every day towards positive changes. ‘I love reading about anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic exercise, as knowledge improvement is one of the fundamental goals in my life.’
Life is movement
When not lost in human physiology books, you will find Mahya working out. ‘It keeps me alive’, she says, and at MaxFit we know that to be true. Movement is life after all!
Mahya loves spending time with her loved ones, and she has recently a new passion to her physical pursuits: rock climbing. Luckily, this is a good place to be given many rock-climbing opportunities in and around Vancouver, which she has been calling home since 2017. ‘I got admitted to Trinity Western University and moved to Vancouver in 2017. I fell in love with it after a while, so I decided to stay here and build my future,’ she explains.
Next stop: MaxFit
As for the decision to join the MaxFit family, it’s quite simple. ‘MaxFit is a place that I can grow in and learn more about new rehabilitation approaches. I knew that I made the right decision after meeting the team.’ Mahya plans to continue to work on her skills and abilities to help her patients even more. ‘Nothing could make me happier than the happy smile of a patient after overcoming the pain,’ she says.
A dedicated learner, Mahya hopes to further her education in Physical Therapy and maybe one day even open her own physical rehabilitation clinic.
Mahya’s favourite quote is, “Focus on what you can do, Not what you can’t”, which means one thing: her dreams have a great place to grow from.
Welcome to the team, Mahya!
